The hard-bashing Kingston, Ontario indie rock duo PS I Love You just announced plans for their third album For Those Who Stay, the first album that they recorded in what they call a “proper studio.” The album’s title track is also its first single, and it’s synthier than anything I remember from these guys. But it’s still very much a guitar-rock song, with a central riff that sounds, to me, like J Mascis attempting to imitate Thin Lizzy. And at six and a half minutes, it sprawls so hard. The Vancouver bedroom producer Teen Daze has also given the track a rippling, sun-dazed beach-disco remix, and his version sounds absolutely nothing like the original.
