Sharon Van Etten and Justin Vernon in Minneapolis

Last night, Sharon Van Etten and her band played the Minneapolis venue First Avenue. And when encore time came around, she had a special guest: Bon Iver frontman and occasional Minneapolis resident Justin Vernon, SVE’s Jagjaguwar labelmate, who sang “Love More” and “Every Time The Sun Comes Up” with Van Etten. “Every Time The Sun Comes Up” footage has not yet hit the internet, but their “Love More” duet was glorious, who added a ton of crazy harmonies to the song. (Vernon knows the song well; he’s covered it.) There aren’t too many pure singers in the indie rock universe as gifted as Van Etten or Vernon, so hearing them sing together is an absolute treat. Not such a treat: The people in the fan-made video, who seem embarrassed about being excited and whose first reaction is to quote Borat. Nevertheless, the video is worth watching, and you can watch it below.
