UK electronic pop dude William Arcane has been getting props from the likes of Jamie xx and Bonobo, and for good reason. “Stay A While,” Arcane’s latest single, is a triumphant bit of moody, beat-driven post-Radiohead songcraft. More than anything by Radiohead proper it reminds me of Thom Yorke’s solo work on The Eraser, though there’s a very un-Eraser-like warmth in Arcane’s doe-eyed delivery, particularly on the climactic lyric, “You could stay a while.” It’s unbelievably pretty, vulnerable, forward-thinking music.
