Cloud Castle Lake’s “Sync” begins on that ethereal plane inhabited by the likes of Radiohead and Sigur Rós, with celestial falsetto arching against shapeless moody tones. In time, the song expands into something far more visceral and celebratory (which, to be fair, is a sound both Radiohead and Sigur Rós have pulled off too) — cascading rhythms, triumphal brass, and a general sense of euphoria. Even as the scenery shifts around it, Daniel McAuley’s whale call remains entrancing throughout. “Sync” leads off the Dublin trio’s upcoming Dandelion EP, but you can experience it here and now. You should.
Dandelion is out 9/19 in Ireland and 9/22 in the UK on Happy Valley. Pre-order it here.
