Kiesza is a Canadian dance-pop singer who’s been working with Diplo and Skrillex and whose name has popped up a few times in Chris’s Week In Pop columns. She seems primed to be a big deal, even with the difficult-to-spell name and everything, and her “Hideaway” single is blowing up, thanks to a catchy pop-house bounce and a great video. And to become famous nowadays, young talents have to show a sufficient amount of Nirvana reverence. (I’m joking, but I haven’t heard so many people cover Nirvana since I was going to mid-’90s coffeeshop open-mic nights in high school.) Kiesza checked that box in a recent live session for NME in which she played a pretty impressive solo-acoustic version of “Heart Shaped Box.” Watch it below.
That was a pretty far cry from this.
