Kayla Cohen makes spellbindingly intimate, lo-fi folk music under the name Itasca. After a number of CD-R and cassette releases, she’s giving us her first album for Real Estate guitarist/Ducktails mastermind Matt Mondanile’s New Images label, Unmoored By The Wind, this fall. Over unhurried acoustic strumming, the spare, home-recorded “Nature’s Gift” tells a vaguely dreamlike story of two maybe-angels appearing in the narrator’s backyard. Listen to it below.
