There will always be a place for well-executed and unfussy rock and Cassavetes does so in style. The band’s press material comes straight out and says that they’re “not trying to reinvent the wheel,” nor should they need to. “Extra Clear” is one of the slower songs that the Philadelphia band has put out (see “Tied Down” or “So Loud” if you want a little more energy) but it’s an effective and subdued rumination sent through a cigarette filter.
