Post-hardcore outfit Self Defense Family have always been an amorphous group, centered around frontman Patrick Kindlon. They’ve also been particularly prolific this year, releasing one and album and three separate EPs, all of which traverse through different sounds with ease. For their latest release, they’ve teamed up with frequent collaborator Caroline Corrigan for a new EP, Duets, that sees Kindlon taking on more of a supporting role than ever before. Corrigan’s airy vocals on “Been Passed On” provide a welcome contrast to Kindlon’s gruff delivery. Duets is the softest collection of songs the group has put out yet, filtering all of their intense energy into smoldering love songs. Listen below.
