The last time we heard from Nate Martinez’s post-Pela project Thieving Irons was in 2012 via the album Behold, This Dreamer!. Soon, though, that will change. Having finally finished building his studio, Martinez has now shared the first batch of work he created in it. The result is the lush, meticulously crafted EP Phenomena, which opens with the lovely “Electric Paradise.” The new sound is dense and constantly evolving, but what hasn’t changed is Martinez’s warm voice and earnest lyricism. There’s a lot going on at once, but that’s okay, or as Martinez puts it in the gentle chorus, “You know it’s never black or white.” Listen to “Electric Paradise” below.
