Mogwai – “Teenage Exorcists”

At the top of the year, Scottish post-rock overlords Mogwai released Rave Tapes, which I thought was their strongest album in years. (I’m not overstating things when I say that “The Lord Is Out Of Control” might be my favorite song that they’ve ever recorded.) They’re about to follow it up with a new EP called Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1., which has three new songs from the Rave Tapes sessions and three remixes. The EP opens with “Teenage Exorcists,” a three-minute basher that’s way more of a straight-up rock song than anything these guys usually make. It reminds me of Hüsker Dü, honestly. Give it a listen and check out the EP’s tracklist below.

01 “Teenage Exorcists”
02 “History Day”
03 “HMP Shaun William Ryder”
04 “Re-Remurdered (Blanck Mass Remix)”
05 “No Medicine For Regret (Pye Corner Audio Mix)”
06 “The Lord Is Out Of Control (Nils Frahm Remix)”

Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1. is out 12/1 on Mogwai’s Rock Action label.
