Watch Mount Eerie Play New Song “Emptiness” (Stereogum Premiere)

Phil Elverum hasn’t released an official song from Mount Eerie’s upcoming double album Sauna, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing new material live. Recently we heard “Dragon” during a performance on Pinball Sessions, and now you can watch him play another new one titled “Emptiness.” It’s a somber piano-based piece featuring the choice Mount Eerie lyric, “I see you, we are two black holes in a vast night, a van in neutral rolling down a hill unoccupied.” No date yet for Sauna, but based on these stripped-down performances, it’s definitely something to get excited about. Watch it below, and check out the full sessions here.

Sauna is expected in 2015 via P.W. Elverum & Sun.
