In case you’re confused about the various Bob Dylan Basement Tapes projects coming out this November, there are two separate endeavors: The New Basement Tapes is an all-star lineup of musicians led by T. Bone Burnett who’ve filled in the missing parts of unfinished Dylan songs from the Basement Tapes era; their album is called Lost On The River. Meanwhile, the wealth of material that was finished during those sessions — in which Dylan and the Band convened at Big Pink to bash out a legendary batch of songs — is being reissued in full as part of Dylan’s ongoing bootleg series, which is a big deal because for years the sessions were only available as actual bootlegs. The latter of those two projects, The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11, is out next week, and portions of the collection are streaming this week. Check it out at NPR.
The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 is out 11/4 on Legacy.
