William H. Macy really doesn’t like One Direction — which is fine, and a perfectly valid opinion that a lot of people share (even me!) — but he really seems to enjoy shit-talking the pop superstars in interviews, even though he’s the polar opposite of the demographic they’re marketed toward. His daughters really like them, though! Back in January, he recounted a 1D concert he brought his daughters to and said that “they couldn’t put on a good show with a gun to their head” and he still seems to be ragging on the same concert ten months later. In a new interview with Billboard about his upcoming film Rudderless (which stars Selena Gomez and Ben Kweller), he took shots at the band once again. Here’s what he had to say when asked what music he listened:
My daughters are 12 and 14 so I listen to [SiriusXM’s] Hits 1 a lot. There was a while there where I thought the pop scene was just dead. They would take a stupid phrase that was not clever and repeat the same f–ing phrase until you were ready to leap out of the car. But they’re writing some good stuff these days. My oldest is really into Taylor Swift, so we went to her concert and she was great. Then we went to One Direction, who are a bunch of wankers. I just wanted to spank them — they should be ashamed of themselves.
Wankers! Glad he likes T-Swift, though. I wonder if he’s gotten around to listening to 1989 yet. Maybe he’s just mad at Harry Styles for breaking her heart??
