Night Beds - "Me Liquor & God"

“Me Liquor & God” marks a noticeable transition for the Nashville-based singer-songwriter Winston Yellen, who typically records Americana-tinged folk songs as Night Beds. The lack of stringed instruments on Yellen’s latest single comes as a slight surprise — although he was featured on Danish producer Tomas Barford’s Love Me track “Sell You” this year, so a dive into electronic production could have been anticipated. The new track highlights some fairly stereotypical roots-music themes (“God” and “Liquor” being the two that appear in the title), but the song is a clear electronic re-working of the unique candor of Yellen’s voice.
