Lazyeyes specialize in a muscular, riff-happy brand of guitar-based dream-pop. Above the layers of reverb, their songs burst with angular hooks and polished melodies. New Year is only their second EP, and there is exploration and variation throughout; singles “Islip” and “Adaptation” are driven and propulsive post-punk rockers, while the title track is a hazy daydream supported by lovely, chiming guitar tones. But their sound seems cohesive and fully-formed already, unsurprising for a band composed of three veterans of the Brooklyn scene. The New Year EP is out next week, and Lazyeyes will be following it with a brief East Coast tour ending in a release show in Brooklyn. Stream New Year in advance and check out tour dates below.
