Marilyn Manson’s new album The Pale Emperor arrives in a couple of months. The two songs we’ve already heard from the LP, the glammy “Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge” and the darkly glimmering “Deep Six,” make some small but interesting leaps. “Cupid Carries A Gun,” the latest song that Manson has shared, brings back the sound that those of us in our thirties most associate with this guy. He sings the entire wallowing, ominous track in the demon-croak he used throughout Antichrist Superstar, though the acoustic guitars that sometimes leap to the front of the mix do mark a bit of a departure. Also: church bells! Listen to the song below.
