With Shriek’s move over to the synth-ier side of things, Wye Oak now have more in common stylistically with Sylvan Esso than they ever would have previously, and this remix of “Play It Right” feels very appropriate. The duo adds a few new elements to the song, gradually turning the track into a noisy, clamoring repetition of itself. Then they let the sweet chorus break through at the end before shutting it all down in a chugging spiral. Amelia Meath’s vocals are buried in this, sounding like they’re echoing at the bottom of the ocean. Listen below.
