Blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross (who is the daughter of Diana Ross for those who don’t know) is in New York for Fred Armisen’s Lipstick Makers All-Star event, so naturally she dropped by Late Night With Seth Meyers where Armisen is the bandleader.
During her lively conversation with Meyers, Ross gets into her recent string of rap song renditions in Instagram videos and how she’s been using the lyric annotation site Genius (fka Rap Genius) to decipher the lyrics to her favorite jams. One in particular they discuss is Rae Sremmurd’s “No Flex Zone” and honestly, she brings up some great existential questions about the zone in question. And since they’re on the subject of rappers, Meyers asks Ross about the times Kanye shouted her out in his lyrics. Watching these two discuss Kanye — who they both clearly love — is pretty fun. Oh, and if you’re not familiar with the lyrical reference in which ‘Ye outs Ross’ address, you can go find it on Genius.
