Twitter: people can’t get enough of it. It’s on their phones, it’s on their computers, they’re eating tweets, they’re typing tweets, they’re talking about tweets, they’re brushing their tweets, they’re kissing tweets, they’re dressing tweets. It’s like, tweets, tweets, tweets with these people! And now they’re going to be WATCHING tweets? Or, I mean, the making of tweets? Twitter, I mean? The making of Twitter? Kind of like The Social Network? I mean, it’s like, where’s it gonna end for these people! From Business Insider:

Today, Lionsgate announced that it’s turning New York Times columnist Nick Bilton’s controversial origin-story “Hatching Twitter: A True Story Of Money, Power, Friendship, and Betrayal” into a TV series. Bilton will write the screenplay and act as producer.

“Twitter has transformed almost every aspect of our lives from politics to business to friendship, and I can’t think of a more compelling story to adapt for television right now,” said Kevin Beggs, Chairman of the Lionsgate, in a press release. “Nick’s book has all the elements of a great drama with its complex characters, high-stakes power struggles and betrayed friendships.”

Okay. There is only so much fighting (or, so much disliking in your own private thoughts) you can do against the idea that from now on we are going to forever adapt the thing that happened two seconds ago for semi-fictionalized watching, before you have to relax and say — WHO’S GOING TO PLAY THE TWITTER BIRD? Tweety Bird? Jeff Tweedy? Donald Duck? Chicken Little? Someone who just has a bird face, not mentioning any names? Who’s gonna be the next hot bird in Hollywood?!
