The 2013 Emmy Nominations

The 2013 Emmy Nominations

“Today is the day that begins our favorite time of the year — Emmy Season,” said the guy who introduced Aaron Paul and Neil Patrick Harris (more on Neil Patrick Harris soon) this morning. (Who is that guy? I’m sure he’s important, #nodisrespect.) The words certainly rang true for all of us who were tuned in to the choppy, stunted, and sterile Emmy Nominations livestream. Ah, I love New York in Emmy season, verily. Kata Mara and Aaron Paul were supposed to announce the Emmy nominations together this morning, but Kate Mara had plane trouble and couldn’t make it. What?! Can you imagine having a date with Aaron Paul and MISSING IT? Oh, girl. Neil Patrick Harris, who will be hosting the Emmys come September, took her place. Okay. Something that is actually somewhat interesting concerning this year’s nominations is that Netflix has a fairly significant showing — House of Cards is nominated in three of the drama categories, and Jason Batemen is nominated for lead actor in a comedy. (Arrested Development was not nominated in the Outstanding Comedy category, though, so I expect a full e-campaign will be in place by 10AM.) What else? Benedict Cumberbatch is nominated. Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks are nominated against each other. Want to see the full list? Let’s just see the full list.
