Monsters’ Ball: The Week’s Best Comments

Well that was a short week. Right? Actually short and then it also felt very short. The whole week just seems like everyone in the break room for ten minutes talking about the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial and then it was Friday. But right now, on Friday, I would like to not talk about the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial and instead I would like to please just say:

Did you guys watch the Sarah Palin movie trailer?! It is the best! Outside of just the fact that it is a “Sarah Palin movie trailer,” because basically whatever, but it is almost entirely composed of bits and pieces of out-of-context phrases! “It wasn’t something that daddy gave her.” “She looked him in the face, stared him down.” “Juno has something called the corrupt bastards club.” “People in leadership positions.” “She took it on because she knew it needed to be done.” Etc.! That is the best. Great documentary talking head sizzle reel. I don’t think we are talking about it enough, can we please talk about it more?

Anyway, after the jump, the five Highest Rated comments, as voted on by you, the Lowest Rated comment, the Paris Hilton And Todd Phillips Caption Contest winner, and the Editor’s and Associate Editor’s Choice.

It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn’t love you were in. There are no ‘exit’ signs in love, there is only an ‘on’ ramp. (( B_l_a_c_k_w_h_i_t_e_C_u_p_i_d. c_0_m )) Lots of my friends found their lovers through the se’rvice. You may have a try… ;)

[Assoc. Ed. Note: Well, this is a boring one. Dangit. Remember when that guy said he was going to boycott my posts in the In-N-Out comments? Can’t I talk about that? That was great, if you’re reading this you are a scab.]

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep,

If I shall die before I wake,

I will significantly lower the premiums for my coworkers and/or family and/or taxpayers, thus contributing to optimal market efficiency.

[Assoc. Ed. Note: This is the best parody of this prayer since Shel Silverstein’s that ended “–My toys to break, so none of the other kids can play with them.” I still remember that from early grade school, please let me know how impressed you are. Also great job, Fondue.]

This Week’s Editor’s Choice

[Ed. Note: For this week’s Editor’s Choice I choose the entire Best New Party Game thread. That is a good thread! The past handful of games have gotten a little exhausting, probably, as they tend to be pretty simplistic pun reversals. But this one is fun! If you haven’t played yet, you should. You will not, however, be recognized as a winner of this week’s Editor’s Choice because you commented after the fact. Rules are rules! That’s OK, though! Just do it for the heck of things. -Gabe]
