Duh Aficionado Magazine: In Addition To Being Awful, Jamie Foxx Is Also Very Stupid

Fresh off of his stint as a Professional Miley Cyrus Critic, Jamie Foxx is hitting the publicity circuit for his upcoming movie, I Am Sam, And I Play Violin The Soloist in which he, yes, “goes full retard” in portraying the real life mentally ill Nathaniel Ayers, Los Angeles street busker. Fair enough. We all have to put food on our families. But this quote (via CNN, thanks for the tip, Jon), even for a bullying, self-important Make Believe Artist (acting!) like Jamie Foxx is pretty fucking incredible:

Foxx, who won an Oscar in 2005 for his portrayal of music legend Ray Charles, said he consulted a psychiatrist because he feared what would happen as he took on Ayers’ personality.

“I asked very foolishly, ‘Can I catch schizophrenia?’ and he says, ‘No, you can’t catch schizophrenia.’ “

I’m not saying that we all have to own a copy of the DSM IV and be licensed psychiatrists, and I’m sure that Jamie Foxx represents millions of Americans who do not know the difference between serious mental illness and toilet seat bacterium, but also shut up, Jamie Foxx.

Foxx told of one early morning incident when he got so far into Ayers’ character that he called his manager and said, “I know why Nathaniel does this and I’m him!”

“I explained what I was feeling to him and he said ‘Foxx, you’re not Nathaniel,’ ” he said.

American hero.
