Tracing The History Of Fake Rap: The El Paso Police Department

One of the worst things in the history of things is when someone tries to talk to you in what they think is “your language,” because it’s never “your language.” It comes out sounding like a mean joke, and that’s how fools get dropped. In our continuing efforts to put an end to fake rap, we take another look back at the origins of the worst musical genre in the history of musical genres as a stark reminder of how little progress we’ve made, and how much work there is left to do. Today’s fake rap comes from the El Paso Police Department (huh?), circa 1992 (the golden age of fake rap). It’s a cautionary tale about a “gangster” named Big, and it is the worst.

I cannot stress how much I want you to sign my petition enough. Thanks for the tip, Ashley.
