Ava Luna – “Coat Of Shellac”

Ava Luna – “Coat Of Shellac”

Skittery Brooklyn art-poppers Ava Luna released Electric Balloon their last album, just a year ago, and they’ve already announced plans for the follow-up LP Infinite House. The band recorded the album in Mississippi and in the Brooklyn DIY venue Silent Barn, and they got Dave Fridmann to mix it. We’ve posted first single “Billz,” and now we get to hear a shifty, playful burst of melody called “Coat Of Shellac.” Here’s singer Felicia Douglass on the song’s meaning: “It feels so good to fix something, even if it’s temporary. As a dancer, I used to put coats of shellac on my pointe shoes to increase their longevity. But I knew it was only a quick fix.” Check out a lyric video for the song and Ava Luna’s tourdates below.
