Boots hasn’t really made good on all of the promise that he seemed to display after coming out of nowhere with his fingerprints all over Beyoncé’s self-titled masterpiece. I found WinterSpringSummerFall, his first post-Beyoncé release, to be pretty middle of the road stuff, but he seems to have taken a step in the right direction on his latest release. Last week, Jordy Asher shared the 30-minute short film Motorcycle Jesus, and now he’s unveiled the EP-length soundtrack for the film. The five tracks on here trend more towards rock — think Asher’s previous project Blonds more so than his work with Beyoncé or Run The Jewels. He seems a little more at ease here, willing to let things build and break apart at whatever speed necessary. Listen to the whole thing below.

The Motorcycle Jesus soundtrack is out 3/3 via CanvasBack/Atlantic. In a new New York Times piece, Asher mentioned that he’s been working with FKA Twigs and Autolux.
