Every summer, the Roots host their Roots Picnic festival in their Philadelphia hometown. This time around, as Billboard reports, the festival’s eighth incarnation will go down 5/30 at Philly’s Festival Pier. The Roots will play twice — once on their own, and once backing up Erykah Badu. The Weeknd will serve as headliner, and A$AP Rocky and Phantogram are also high up on the bill. Further down, things get more interesting. The bill includes ratchet music overlord DJ Mustard, electro pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, Australian neo-soul group Hiatus Kaiyote, omnivorous producer Hudson Mohawke, and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, in his DJ Windows 98 guise, as well as promising younger folks like Raury and Bishop Nehru. You will soon be able to find all relevant details here.
