Other than a five-year break in the ’90s, Portland punk heroes Poison Idea have been making blistering, intense, full-bore hardcore since 1980. Though they’ve been playing regularly, the band’s forthcoming album Confuse & Conquer will be their first since 2006’s Last Will & Testament. They recorded it in their hometown, with Toxic Holocaust’s Joel Grind producing. “Bog,” the new album’s opening track, is an absolute shit-ripper, an all-out burst of energy that does not sound like it was made by people who have been doing this for decades.
