Watch Jeff Tweedy & Mavis Staples Cover John Fogerty’s “Wrote A Song For Everyone”

Jeff Tweedy and Mavis Staples have developed a fruitful creative partnership in recent years, with Tweedy producing a couple Staples albums and helping her finish one of her father Pops Staples’ unreleased records. (She was also in Tweedy’s awesome, Chicago-centric “Low Key” video.) Here’s another cool thing they did together: Tweedy invited Staples on stage at the Newport Folk Festival to perform an extremely Wilco-esque cover of John Fogerty’s “Wrote A Song For Everyone,” and director Jessica Edwards captured it for her upcoming documentary Mavis! Watch an inspiring excerpt of the performance below.
