Modest Mouse Launch A Strangers To Ourselves “Linguistic Remix Generator”

To accompany their new album Strangers To Ourselves, Modest Mouse have released what they’re calling a “linguistic remix generator.” If you head over to this website and type in a phrase of up to 96 characters, it’ll generate a visualizer and a short looped remix based on samples from the album, supposedly using letter frequency data to produce stems and patterns and analyzing the sentiment of the text to determine the BPM. The mechanics of the algorithm are fairly vague, and you’re not going to make any masterpieces here, but it is a neat thing!

Isaac Brock also recorded a pretty cryptic track-by-track commentary for the album, which is available on Spotify. You can stream that below.
