Next week, Canadian post-rock superheroes Godspeed You! Black Emperor will release their new album Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress, the follow-up to 2012’s beautiful, overwhelming Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! We’ve posted an excerpt from the massive, crashing opener “Peasantry Or Light! Inside Of Light.” That’s one of only four tracks on the album, which clocks in at under 40 minutes, exceedingly brief for this often-sprawling band. On first listen, though, they’ve packed a ton of nourishing grandeur into those 40 minutes. This band doesn’t do things by half-measures, and this album sounds like a sun exploding.
