American Wrestlers is the latest project from Gary McClure, a musician who also played in Working For A Nuclear Free City for a number of years, and released his own album Wreaths. But his lo-fi, home recorded debut American Wrestlers easily eclipsed his past work and earned our Band To Watch distinction. Previously shrouded in anonymity, McClure revealed his identity to us in an extensive interview, and shared “There’s No One Crying Over Me Either.” We’ve also already heard “Kelly” and “I Can Do No Wrong,” but now a week before it comes out, the entire record is streaming in full. The entire thing is solid, but the swerving aggression of “Holy” is my favorite part of the whole record. Listen below.
American Wrestlers is out 4/7 via Fat Possum. Pre-order it here.
