Selena’s Family Crowdfunding Hologram That Will Tour And Release New Music

Queen of Tejano music Selena Quintanilla, who was tragically murdered 20 years ago last week, will be getting her own hologram. The news was announced in a post on the late singer’s Facebook page and was later confirmed by Billboard. The hologram, which is being given the name Selena The One, was created by a Nevada-based tech company called Acrovirt, LLC. A press release calls the hologram “a walking, talking, singing, and dancing, digital embodiment of iconic singer” and says that it (she?) “will release new songs and videos, will collaborate with current hit artists, and aims to go on tour in 2018.” The company behind the hologram will be launching an IndieGoGo campaign next week on the project’s new website to raise funds for the undertaking. The project apparently has the full blessing of the Quintanilla family, who have talked to the press in the past about attempting something like this. The San Diego Latino Film Festival has already jumped on board as an official media partner. More details are sure to come.
