Watch Tyler, The Creator Talk About Pleasantville On Tavis Smiley

The PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley never has musical guests, but he occasionally brings musicians onto his show for serious, in-depth conversations. Tyler, The Creator just released his new album Cherry Bomb earlier this week, and he was a guest on Smiley’s show last night. It’s fascinating to see Tyler sitting there fidgeting in his shorts on that PBS set, but he’s also a sharp, engaging interviewee. On the show, Tyler talks about growing up weird and black, refers to himself as both “very obnoxious” and a “borderline genius,” and enthuses about the movie Pleasantville. Watch the interview below.

Cherry Bomb is out now on Odd Future. Noam Chomsky was also on that episode, and I’m just going to sit here and imagine that green-room conversation for the rest of the day.
