Washer – “Joe”

Washer – “Joe”

At the beginning of the month, we announced that Exploding In Sound and East Coast Basements & Bedrooms (ECB&B) would release a split 7″ featuring Flagland and Washer. Just last fall, Washer accompanied Big Ups on a similar split, and the band plans to record their debut LP this summer with Dan Francia and Nick Dooley of Flagland acting as producers. For a band that has yet to put out a full-length, Washer have racked up accolades and impressive local lineup slots over the course of the past year, which isn’t at all surprising if you’ve ever seen them play live. Composed of two dudes — Mike Quigley on guitar/vox and Kieran McShane on drums — Washer construct quick and flashy yet monumental punk songs that are just ragged enough to avoid being labeled as “pop.” That being said, “Joe” might be their most instantly likable and hook-laden song to date. It’s caustic and noisy and unmistakably earnest. Listen below.
