Carpark Records is about to celebrate its 16th anniversary with the release of a basketball-themed 12″ picture disc compilation called Sweet Sixteen. The record includes new songs from people like Memory Tapes, Dog Bite, and Montag, as well as locked grooves from the likes of Dan Deacon, Toro Y Moi, and Speedy Ortiz frontwoman Sadie Dupuis. Speedy also have a full song on there, though it could also be a Dupuis solo affair. “Basketball” is a lo-fi acoustic demo that puts Dupuis’ tossed-off eloquence into an entirely different context. The full-band version appeared on the band’s Sports EP in 2012, but it works as an acoustic thing, too. Listen below.
Sweet Sixteen, a benefit for Little Kids Rocks, is limited to 600 copies, and it’s out 7/24.
