During an album-release week as packed with great albums as this one was, it’s easy to miss a few great records, especially if they’re of the quieter variety. But one album you should take care not to sleep on is Before We Forgot How To Dream, the sharp and lovely debut from Bridie Monds-Watson, the 18-year-old Irish singer-songwriter who records as SOAK. She’s the subject of the latest Take Away Show, the low-tech and consistently excellent performance-video series from the French website La Blogothèque. And in her episode, she plays quiet and contemplative solo-acoustic versions of her songs “B A Nobody” and “Blud” on a New York rooftop and in the hallway of the building below. Check it out below.
