Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

This weekend is even more celebratory than usual now that gay marriage is finally legal nationwide! Stereogum is proud of the U.S. today, even if we are choosing not to rainbowfy our social media avatars. But as Lil B says, do u brands! Congrats to everyone, and thanks to Taylor Swift for making this landmark ruling possible.

THIS WEEK’S 10 HIGHEST RATED COMMENTS

Truly a great moment for altruism; world’s biggest pop star leverages world’s biggest corporation into paying her more royalties, adoring media spins it as triumphal moment for plebes dining on the scraps of a decaying record industry.

When will the leaders of the “white community” (Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump) condemn this culture of lawlessness? Is it any wonder rural white youths are so criminally prone when these country “thugs” glorify this kind of bad behavior? FYI I am not racist against whites – I even have a white friend!

I want to live in a world where they left the hospital and Chris looked down at Carley Rae and said, “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”

Chris leaned over to look at his newborn daughter. In little bits and pieces, he caught edges, lines, and shapes he had spent years watching grown and change on himself. Tears matted the edge of his eyes as her fragile fingers fit around one of his own. He brought himself closer to her and, with a whisper, spoke.

–I really, really, really, really, really, really like you. . .

. . . should have charted way higher.

Man I wish they would make another album. That last one was SO good and it go so little attention. I know it included a lot of old reworked songs, but it’s still amazing how good it is.

I think Billy Corgan is mostly right. He is at least saying his version of what the right thing to do which is very simply to pay artists what they’re worth or might be worth as well. Eventually either all artists in music are going to go broke and stop creating music, or the conglomerates that are paying a penny a song will hope that people are satisfied with music as it has been and will not find any new material. There will be no new bands and creations. It is just simply unethical not to pay a few bucks for an album or a dollar a song, this is not buying a cadillac for a song. http://www.oxcohen.com

There are a crazy number of determining factors that get a song ranked in the top 100. So how do you get your favorite Taylor Swift song to jump to number 1 on the chart? It’s obviously a popularity contest. the more fans you have who loyally make an effort to purchase your music, the higher up the chart they will climb.

Social media websites like YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter have made it increasingly competitive to get a hit song on the radio. It used to just be about how many CD’s were sold in stores, but now even with digital music widely available from places like iTunes, the factors that determine a songs position in the charts, have expanded tremendously.

However, there is a new internet radio station where the listeners call the shots! The Blaze 101 operates a live chat system allowing you to request or vote for your favorite songs. They play all the popular songs from artists such as David Guetta, Wiz Khalifa, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ellie Goulding. In addition to providing you with non-stop music, they also play hosts to daily The Blaze 101 Cruise Contest giveaways, giving their dedicated listeners the chance to grab fantastic prizes such as a cruise holiday in the Bahamas.

Did Killer Mike discuss the TPA or is he distracted and naive too? Just like after 9/11. Exploit people by playing to their emotions and trample the 1st, 2nd, and other assorted amendments.

It’s just disgusting how naive Americans continue to be. It’s like most of us are happy being worked over by the real oppressors. You know…the ones who were bailed out and given immunity from criminal prosecution while robbing our treasury.

Oh well. History often repeats.

Enjoy the empty pandering that solves absolutely nothing of true importance.
