Lauryn Hill was slated to perform in London at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire this coming Wednesday but has since cancelled the show, stating that as a result of her “past legal situation,” she is not allowed to enter the UK. Hill spent three months in prison back in 2013 after failing to pay taxes on some of her earnings. As NME points out, Hill posted a statement about the cancellation on her Facebook page:

I’ve been informed that I won’t be able to enter the UK for a period of time due to my past legal situation… For this reason I have to cancel my concert on July 15th. Know that I was looking forward to performing in London this summer, and that I appreciate all of my fans and supporters both in London, and throughout the UK. I look forward to seeing you again as soon as I’m able to.

Love and Respect,
MLH

Hill recently cancelled a concert in Israel after learning that she wouldn’t be able to book a similar appearance in Palestine. Read our essay about Hill’s rise and fall here.
