Watch Tyler, The Creator Rap The New Dr. Seuss Book In A Cat In The Hat Costume On Kimmel

Tyler, The Creator has his own sketch comedy show, so if he’s the musical guest on your late-night talk show, there’s a fair bet that he’s willing to do whatever ridiculous shit your writers can conjure up. Last night, Tyler was the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he was happy to wear a huge Cat In The Hat costume while rapping the words from What Pet Should I Get?, the recently unearthed and published Dr. Seuss book. This wasn’t a particularly good sketch or anything, but Tyler was absolutely game to do it, even if I think he went off-script a few times. As for his performance, Tyler took over Kimmel’s big outdoor festival stage. On the show, he did a quick medley of “Cherry Bomb” and “Smuckers,” two tracks from his new Cherry Bomb album. On the first, he came out shirtless and incited the first moshpit I’ve ever seen on that outdoor lot. On the second, he rapped in front of a full string-section and a smooth-jazz saxophonist, then played piano on the song. As an online bonus, he also did the album track “Pilot.” Watch the sketch and the performances below.

Cherry Bomb is out now on Odd Future Records.
