Back in January, we reported that Kathleen Hanna, the punk-singing legend of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre and the Julie Ruin, was set to play the lead in Myrna, a hybrid live-action/animated short from director Ian Samuels. It debuted at Sundance, and now the whole 15-minute film is online. Hanna plays the voice of Myrna, a lovelorn alien from the moon who’s trying to find a place for herself in Los Angeles. YACHT’s Jeffrey Brodsky, Jona Bechtolt, and Rob Kieswetter did the score, and MTV produced it. It’s very much not safe for work, but it’s also absolutely absorbing. Check it out below.
Someone should give Hanna some more acting work because she’s great at it.
