This has been a buzzworthy summer for our abiding dude Mac DeMarco, but his fellow Montreal friend and former guitarist Peter Sagar is also emerging with his own extremely chilled solo music. Sagar debuted his funky full-length last year under the moniker Homeshake, and his sophomore effort Midnight Snack will be out later this fall. Channeling the homesick loneliness he faced on tour, Sagar traded his guitars for synthesizers and a drum machine and churned out a woozy album inspired by smooth R&B and dazed electronics. “Faded” is the third single to be shared, a tale of dwindling romance, internal loss, and the unavoidable longing that plagues you when you’re apart for too long. The crooning hooks are backed by funkafied bass line, while retro synths slowly drip through the track. You can feel the emotion and sensuality behind every note, as if Sagar was imagining his lover’s touch once more before it completely disappears into memory. Listen below.
