As the Times Herald-Record reports, Woodstock Music Lab just purchased a former high school in Woodstock, NY for $926,000. Original Woodstock Festival organizer Michael Lang, School Of Rock founder Paul Green (pictured above), hospitality developer David Jarrett, and former Bennington College Dean Bill Reichblum plan on using the building to start what Green calls “nothing short of the best music college in the country for pop music,” which, if everything goes according to plan, will begin offering workshops and two-year college courses sometime next year. The building will be renovated to include rehearsal rooms, classrooms, recording studios, and a music venue. “We’ll be tapping into the wealth of professional musicians who live in the area and also have a rotating faculty of some of the greatest talent out there,” Green says. “It will be modeled on what’s done at the New School. Professional musicians will teach specific courses or workshops.”
