Pictureplane – “Riot Porn” (Stereogum Premiere)

Polyglot warehouse producer Pictureplane aka Travis Egedy recently announced his new album Technomancer — his first in four years — and shared the title track. Really, how can you not love a guy who combines techno and necromancer for the name of his record? That’s almost as great as naming a genre Witch House, which I still maintain is one of the best subgenres ever coined, even if it contains some of the worst music. But I digress, Pictureplane is sharing another track off Technomancer today, the chaotic noise-house swirl of “Riot Porn.” It’s got a sweeping, buzzy melancholia that evokes classic house vibes, but Egedy pairs that with veering static that purposefully disrupt the track’s majesty.
