Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

CMJ was this week, although we didn’t cover it this year (outside of Instagram). I haven’t read much about it anywhere, really! In its 35th year, the Marathon seems to going through a transitional period. I’ve seen some college radio kids around town, but ever since SoundCloud replaced downtown NYC as a convenient avenue for music discovery I’ve wondered if this fest is any use to them. With the most promising showcases at, like, random Brooklyn warehouses and carwashes, it’s harder than it used to be to hit up more than one event a night. And yet this week I still got to see Car Seat Headrest, Nai Harvest, Tricot, and Shopping (twice), among others. I recommend them all to you millennial males.

As someone from San Francisco, I am going to jump in early and say that this is INCREDIBLY OFFENSIVE. It’s possible to like BOTH tacos AND burritos 🙂

Feels like the end of an era.

Also, I can guarantee that whoever wrote that press release and included the phrase “millennial males” in it has not looked at the Pitch even once.

i bet conde nast describing the pitchfork audience as highly passionate millenial males fucking killed everybodys soul at pitchfork. like all the pop-pushing shit theyve been doing since my beautful dark twisted fantasy was for nothing, their audience is still 90% nerdy ass white dudes

THIS WEEK’S 5 LOWEST RATED COMMENTS

#5

Tim Curtin | Oct 13th Score:-17

but why is it a bad thing that their readership is largely male?

in absence of comments i can only assume the downvotes represent some kind of self-imposed male guilt.

kudos for being the first to admit you downvote me out of habit.

what lesson you’re referring to however, i have no idea. my guess has been and remains ‘agree with the pack or else’
