Look, I’m done trying to understand pop music. Things just happen, and sometimes they’re good, and sometimes they’re bad. Nothing makes sense. We are living in a historical slipstream, where things interact with each other even when they probably shouldn’t. Everything is fluid. There are no rules. We have all become untethered from reality. We are floating in some shared electronic space, and when we try to make sense of it, we will only drive ourselves insane. What I’m trying to tell you is: Zaytoven, the esteemed Atlanta rap producer, has remixed the Fall Out Boy song “Irresistible.” He has put the Atlanta rap group Migos on it. Quavo has a line about “showing off your cameltoe.” And the remix? It’s good. It’s pretty good! Look, I’m sorry! What do you want me to say? That Zaytoven’s airy blips are a better fit for Patrick Stump’s voice than his own band’s compressed whump? Fine! I’ll say that! It’s true! Listen to it below.
