On albums like last year’s Hanging Gardens, the Californian production duo Classixx have developed a beautifully shimmering form of dance music, one built as much around melodic twinkle as house thump. They make an oddly perfect match for T-Pain, who comes in to do some delirious, ecstatic Auto-Tune crooning on their new single “Whatever I Want.” It sounds like an absolute dream. In a statement, Classixx say, “We’ve been T-Pain fans for a long time, but vividly remember hearing the instrumental of ‘Can’t Believe It’ and feeling kindred in some way. We’re still reeling from the fact that this song came together, it was really fun to make it!” The track also features the West LA Children’s Choir, and Zane Lowe debuted it on Beats 1 earlier today. Listen to it below.
Classixx promise “more big news coming soon,” and I hope that means a whole album with T-Pain.
