Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. released his solo album Momentary Masters this summer. And last night, Hammond was the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he sang the driving album track “Razor’s Edge.” In a neat bit of stagecraft, Hammond carried an unslung guitar onstage and spent the entire song waving it around — throwing it over his shoulder like a sack, or hiding his face with it. That added a built-in sense of suspense to the performance: When is he going to start playing it? (Spoiler alert: He never did. It was a prop and nothing more.) Watch the performance below.
