Singer-songwriter Eleanor Friedberger, one half of the sadly-on-hiatus Fiery Furnaces along with her brother Matthew, announced her new album New View and shared its first single “He Didn’t Mention His Mother” last month. Now, somewhat unexpectedly, she’s shown up in a seasonal commercial for sparkling wine company Segura Viudas in which she plays “Auld Lang Syne” by tapping on 1000 wine glasses filled with varying levels of liquid, accompanied by cello and synth. I’m one of those people who’s always impressed by neat gimmicks like playing music on wine glasses, and also I love Eleanor Friedberger, so I think this is pretty cool! I just hope someone drank all that wine afterwards. Watch below.
