Watch Chance The Rapper Light Up SNL, Hear His New Song With Jeremih, R. Kelly, & Purity Ring’s Corin Roddick
Is Chance The Rapper the first unsigned artist to play Saturday Night Live? It’s hard to know for sure considering some of the weird bookings in the ’70s, but either way, the fact that Chicago’s favorite son made it this far without a record label’s support, while giving away every song for free, is impressive — indicative of Chancellor Bennett’s electric presence and contagious appeal. Like he says on his brand new “Somewhere In Paradise,” “They screaming Chano for mayor, I’m thinking maybe I should.” He totally should! Chance debuted the celebratory single on SNL just as the studio version — featuring fellow Chicagoans Jeremih and R. Kelly and produced by Purity Ring’s Corin Roddick — hit the internet. Chance also did “Sunday Candy” because it’s only right. If happiness is a sensation you like to experience, check out the new song and footage of both performances below.
