Fetty Wap’s monster smash “Trap Queen” is a song that seems determined not to die; it just keeps finding new permutations. This might be the weirdest one yet: New York experimentalist Gabrielle Herbst, who records as GABI, has made a clanging, mystic psychedelic folk version of the song. It twists and flutters and explodes into a discordant mess of harp and clarinet. And now I’d really like to hear what she’d do with “679.” Listen to the “Trap Queen” cover below.
GABI’s album Sympathy is out now on Software.
